We Can Hold Both Thoughts in Our Heads
I’ve long held that the greatest threat to Jews is the leadership of the Likud and Otzma Yehudit parties in Israel. The systematic annihilation of Palestinians has turned much of the world against the state of Israel and the decades-long effort to tether Zionism to Judaism is actualizing this belief. The other side effect is that it provides cover for clear antisemitism to exist in daylight without retribution so long as western powers continue to defend the barbarism of the world’s only Jewish state.
From the article:
“It is important to be really clear about what all of these antisemites linked to Trump and the people around him have been accused of. It’s not that they used outdated language that we now think of as offensive, said things that could be construed as antisemitic, made remarks long ago that they have since disavowed, or criticized Israel and its treatment of the Palestinians in ways that are now cynically being redefined as antisemitic. No, they have said explicitly, unambiguously antisemitic things, recently, often on video, and are frequently open and unembarrassed about their bigotry toward Jews.”

There Are Shitty Companies. And Then There’s JBS.
As if the protein industry isn’t damaging the planet enough, meatpacking giant JBS is headed for public trading on the New York Stock Exchange. This will only supercharge the growth of one of the most notoriously harmful and corrupt companies in the United States. And that’s saying a lot. Like, a lot.
From the article:
“JBS has built its empire not through innovation or sustainability, but through exploitation. Price fixing, child labor, wage theft, bribery, tax avoidance, deforestation, animal cruelty—these are not isolated scandals. They are core ingredients of JBS’ business model. And while many corporations would work to correct and address their abuses, JBS has repeatedly treated legal penalties and reputational damage as just another cost of doing business.”

Bad Science
The field of gynecology is rooted in experiments on enslaved women. COVID disproportionately killed Black Americans. The hundreds of years between these two scientific and medical events is littered with examples of disparities in scientific funding, research and outcomes. The Trump administration seeks to keep it there.
From the article:
“The current administration is not attacking all science equally. Certain areas, including climate science, vaccine research, and anything remotely connected to DEI, are taking a disproportionate hit. These are not random choices, but rather targeted efforts to dismantle any knowledge production that challenges a world order dominated by capitalism, colonialism, white supremacy, and social inequities.”
